OUR PROCESS

Our Approach to Behaviour Rehabilitation

At Frontier K9, we take a holistic, relationship-based approach. Our balanced training approach combines positive reinforcements with fair, timely corrections. This method delivers reliable, consistent results, helping dogs learn faster and respond dependably in everyday situations. Importantly, all corrections are welfare-focused: never harsh or punitive, but always designed to teach and support your dog’s wellbeing.
Every rehabilitation plan includes:

Step-01

Behaviour Assessment & Observation

We begin with a detailed consultation to identify triggers, patterns, and emotional stressors.

Step-02

Tailored Rehabilitation Plan

Using balanced and positive reinforcement and trust-building techniques, we’ll create a step-by-step plan to modify your dog’s behaviour safely.

Step-03

Owner Education & Support

We work with you to ensure you feel empowered, supported, and equipped to help your dog progress every step of the way.

Step-04

Real-Life Scenario Training

When ready, we support real-world exposure (walks, greetings, etc.) to build your dog’s confidence in everyday life.

Areas of Expertise

Frontier K9 specialise in behaviour recovery and emotional support for dogs facing complex behavioural challenges. Evaluating the root cause helps shape our tailored strategies. Our balanced methodology uses all four quadrants of operant conditioning – Positive Reinforcement, Negative Reinforcement, Positive Punishment, Negative Punishment – each applied with care and expertise.

Dog Reactivity (toward people, dogs, or environmental triggers)

Our behaviour modification uses desensitisation and counter-conditioning, plus precise, fair corrections when needed. This balanced method ensures dogs learn both what to do and what to avoid..

Trauma-Informed Behaviour Support

We understand the psychological effects of trauma in dogs — often seen in rescues, abused, or neglected animals. Our methods are built on gentle, consent-based interaction to slowly rebuild emotional stability and trust.

Anxiety & Fear-Based Behaviours

From separation anxiety to sound sensitivity and generalised fear, we identify stressors and introduce calming routines, coping strategies, and confidence-building exercises to support emotional regulation.

Socialisation Difficulties

If your dog struggles to interact appropriately with other dogs or people, we use controlled social exposure, observation-based training, and threshold management to encourage safe, positive interactions.

Confidence-Building for Nervous or Shut-Down Dogs

For dogs who are easily overwhelmed or shut down in unfamiliar situations, we design enrichment-based activities that promote problem-solving, decision-making, and a sense of safety.

Trust Recovery in Rescue or Rehomed Dogs

Many dogs adopted from shelters or rescue environments struggle to adjust to new homes. We focus on creating predictable routines and secure attachments to ease this transition and support emotional healing.

Positive, Force-Free Training Methods

Each dog is unique and so is their rehabilitation journey. We offer bespoke, structured programmes designed to meet your dog’s specific needs, using a balanced training approach that combines clear communication, positive reinforcement, and fair correction.
